Impurities in the air taken in or in the fuel cause the engine components to wear prematurely. A clogged air filter prevents sufficient air supply to the combustion chamber. This results in the fuel not being optimally combusted, leading to engine failure. Bosch air filters filter even the smallest particles out of the air taken in, ensure sufficient air supply and engine performance and help save fuel.

 Types

Bosch Air Filters come in the following variants

 

Radial

• Mainly used for carbureted engines
• Available in a round or oval shape
• Filtration element consists of folded paper, the inner and outer surfaces are covered by wire mesh fabric
• Components are joined using thin and flexible material such as polyurethane, which also acts as a sealant.

Axial

• Used for electronic injection engines
• Formed by a rigid plastic centre from which spokes radiate towards a rigid circle outside the component
• The folded paper filtration element in the shape of a circle is molded precisely inside the rigid plastic folding

Conical

• Has a rigid plastic centre with a bullet-shaped peak at one end and thin, flexible and rounded material at the other

Panel

• Most commonly used type of filter in today’s cars
• The wire mesh screen covers the side of the frame inlet and is connected to it using a soft flexible element.
• The middle frame is inserted or molded inside the rigid plastic molding which has sealant rubber
